We will start the day approaching Añana salt mine, located 30 kilometers from Vitoria, in the municipality of the same name as the salt mine. We will visit an unique saline landscape in the world, in which humans have been able to take advantage of its salt water springs for thousands of years to obtain a product as essential to life as salt.
Then we will travel to Vitoria where we will have time to eat and gather strength before facing the visit to the Cathedral of Santa María, or the old cathedral, in a commented walk through the medieval almond of Vitoria. In 1994 the cathedral closed its doors to the public, giving beginning then to the works of restoration, that continue today and that can be visited since it is “open for works” tour.
Visit this cathedral including the archaeological remains of a thirteenth century sanctuary that inspired the writer Ken Follet to write the Best Seller A World Without End.
